According to folklore, her height ranges from fifty to one hundred feet, supported by a powerful and massive frame, though she retains the capability of appearing in the form of an ordinary woman when necessary. Her complexion is as black as coal, darker than the night of Amavasya. She exists completely beyond worldly adornments, featuring wild, disheveled hair and a primitive, untamed appearance marked by a complete indifference toward ornaments or material decorations.

Mari is extremely fierce, ruthless, quick-tempered, fearsome, and completely overwhelming. Ancient lineages describe her as the most terrible and destructive feminine power known within the hidden sciences of Tantra, associated exclusively with destruction and the absolute dissolution of life. Certain traditions associate her with the principle of Samhara Deva (the divine force of destruction and dissolution), and she is said to exist independently of conventional protective ritual circles or enclosures.
