Gariya Vetala is considered a hidden and mysterious being belonging to the Vetala lineage. It prefers living in cohesive groups and is accompanied by other Vetalas, including specialized female forms. According to traditional understanding, it possesses the unique ability to dynamically mutate its physical appearance, assuming entirely different shapes and countenances according to operational necessity.
Sattvic Anchor with Fierce Jurisdiction
It is regarded as one of the essential attendants of Lord Bhairava, functioning under the direct authority of three of His principal forms: Bhishana Bhairava, Mahakala Bhairava, and Mrityunjaya Bhairava. Although its foundational nature is considered sattvic, it readily manifests rajasic or tamasic attributes whenever defense or execution requires, while maintaining its pristine underlying pure core.
