Form & Appearance

Traditional descriptions portray Goddess Durga as possessing a beautiful, radiant, and enchanting form. Her complexion is fair and luminous. She is traditionally depicted seated upon a lion and possessing eight arms. However, many traditions also describe Her appearing in the form of a young maiden or an ordinary woman, making Her presence difficult to recognize. Her form is adorned with red garments and golden ornaments like necklaces and bangles, while Her flowing hair enhances Her divine beauty.
