DAYAN
The Strong-Willed Spirit
DAYAN
Fierce Folk Entity
The knowledge presented here is based upon traditional teachings of Tantra, the guidance of my Guru, and experiences gathered during my spiritual journey. These teachings are shared for educational purposes and should not be interpreted as a substitute for proper spiritual guidance. Advanced practices should never be attempted without the blessings and supervision of a qualified spiritual mentor.
Fierce Presence & Form
Her appearance is described as neither exceptionally beautiful nor extremely ugly, possessing a fierce and intimidating presence. Her complexion is dark or wheatish. The body resembles that of an ordinary woman, though many traditions describe the Dayan as unusually tall, sometimes between six and eight feet in height. Some regional traditions describe her as appearing without concern for worldly modesty or adornment, while others depict her in simple forms without ornaments or jewelry.
Voice & Temperament
Her voice is described as harsh, commanding, and powerful. She possesses a fierce, passionate, strong-willed, and quick-tempered nature. Traditional cremation-ground lineages distinguish between living practitioners and the spirit known as the Dayan. Unlike many wandering spirits, she is believed to possess a strong and uncompromising nature. Traditional beliefs hold that many Dayans remain devoted to the deities they worshipped during life, particularly showing affinity with Lord Hanuman and Goddess Chhinnamasta.
Sacred Offerings
Meat, alcohol, and sweets or offerings made during rituals.
Sacred Timing
Saturday, Holi night, Diwali night, and Dussehra night.
Divine Abode
Cremation grounds, orchards, gardens, open fields, forests, mountainous regions, tribal areas, isolated ancient temples, old Hanuman temples, and temples dedicated to Goddess Chhinnamasta during late-night hours.
🔱 Signs of Displeasure According to Traditional Tantra
In women: repeated disturbances related to conception and pregnancy, persistent illness, weakness, and unexplained suffering. In men: chronic illness, weakness, loss of vitality, and dreams involving mysterious female figures. Traditional lore associates the Dayan with severe disturbances in life and obstacles to family growth.
The descriptions represent traditional folklore preserved among village healers and Tantra lineages; they are spiritual and cultural traditions rather than established scientific explanations.
Prescribed Remedies
According to rural and Aghora traditions, cleansing rituals, protective ceremonies, offerings, and symbolic transfer rituals are used. The influence is believed to be removed through exorcistic practices and then ritually abandoned in isolated places such as gardens or cremation grounds.
